Taiwan-ruriminoki: a shrub with blue fruit

This is a reference photo taken in Taiwan.
Reading time: about 1 min
The name Taiwan-ruriminoki holds a clue to the color of its fruit. After white flowers bloom, the fruit turns bluish purple when ripe. This color is linked to its name, which means a tree that bears lapis-blue fruit. Once you know where the flowers bloom, you can also picture the fruit growing there afterwards. However, there are not always flowers or fruit. Although its name includes Taiwan, it is a tree found from the islands of Amami and Okinawa across a wide area of Asia. Imagine the color added to the green of the forest, and how far the places where plants grow extend.
